Crafty goals for 2011

I’ve never been one for New Years Resolutions, but inspired by the lovely Jess at Epheriell Designs I decided to make some craft related goals for 2011. Jess had a huge blog hop, called The Creative Oddessey which included 40 bloggers who each shared their own crafty goals for next year. They have been great to read, so I decided to do my own.

I wrote them down on paper so I can’t backspace them. And as you can see, I have a little room to add anything else that inspires me. For the first time in as long as I can remember, I’m excited about the new year, I’m excited about where my handmade journey is going to take me, and I’m excited about the like-minded people I’m going to meet, in real life and in the blog world. Optimism is a foreign feeling for me, but I think it’s growing on me.

And just because I know you’ll appreciate it, here’s a little sketch that came out of my brain. After a bit of cleaning up, Top Hat Tortoise might make his way onto a piece on Aida in the future, or maybe he’ll even be screen printed onto a tote bag.

Bring on the new year!

ooh, i say start with the zippers! they seem so intimidating, til you get it, and then a whole new world of sewing opens up! it’ll inspire you to do more and it might be that little nudge you need to try new things.

    happy new year!

I like that you’ve written them down – I wonder if I did that if they’d be more achievable? 🙂 I wish I could even dream of being as crafty as you – I can barely thread a needle! Happy New Year.

Hey Zoe! Happy Late Christmas! Just got around to the computer after a lazy and family-time filled holiday week. Love your goals…I’m on the same page, need to make a list though and accomplish similar stuff. We might be joining a fair this year, if I get around to make enough crafts. Zippers look easy but my only attempt did not turn out as attractive as it should be. I wanna learn how to knit, I’ve began crocheting last year and I’m ok so far but I’m only on basic stitches. Perhaps we should trade lessons 😉

I tried to teach my sister to knit this year, and I was a really awful teacher, so I’m probably not the best person to give you lessons! I hope you blog your list so I can have a peek!

I think a quilt will be on my 2012 list. I think I would really enjoy cutting out all the little pieces, but the actual sewing sounds a lot like hard work!

Wonderful list! I’ve made a list inside my head, but I’m too lazy to write it down–LOL. I can tell you’ll very likely accomplish all of those things! And if not all, then most! Happy New Years!

I hope I do, crossing goals off lists is a wonderful feeling!

Best of luck with your goals for 2011 – sounds like fun, except for the zip thing. That is too much for me!

    • Zoe / Dec 31 2010 6:22 pm

I’m pretty nervous about the zip! I’ll be watching some tutorials on Youtube before I attempt anything!

My sister was telling me about a fortnightly crochet thing that she was doing through a magazine. It sounds really good – each issue there is a new stitch and some crochet stuff to do it with, and at the end of it you make all the squares for a throw. Plus there are other projects in each issue. Not sure how long ago it started though.

That would be really helpful, I’ll have to see if I can see it at the newsagent. Thanks!

I like your goals! I want to learn how to sew zippers too, so I can start making myself pants that actually fit. What a concept! lol.

And if you want your own domain, may I suggest GoDaddy.com? I’ve used them since the mid-90’s to host my website, http://www.amandacales.com, and have never been displeased with them. They’ve got low prices and good customer service as well.

    • Zoe / Dec 31 2010 6:18 pm

Thanks, I’ll check GoDaddy out. That’s the hardest thing about self hosting, choosing a host! So many options!

Pants would be so impressive! I’ve never tried making clothes.

I TOTALLY want to start doing craft shows in 2011, too! Too bad we cannot attend each other’s 😦

    • Zoe / Dec 29 2010 12:13 am

Your stall would be so full of cuteness, I wish I could attend!
