New Fabric

Nothing makes me feel quite the same as buying new fabric. I love getting it home and smoothing it out. I love that it’s a perfect square or rectangle, with no annoying bits sticking out, so I can fold it ever so neatly and put it in my pile. I love browsing Etsy for fabric, I could scroll all day, and I love shopping at physical stores just as much. I love when the fabric display is colour co-ordinated and perfectly wrapped around bolt after bolt. I also love the remnants bin, I gravitate towards it and immediately start pulling things out. I go straight for the patterns, anything bright and beautiful. The fat quarter shelf is just as wonderful, they’re in sweet little squares and there’s so much to choose from!

I guess you could say that I kinda like fabric.

My weekend sale was wonderful, I was proud to launch all the pouches I put so much love and care into, and even prouder that I made some sales! The best thing was that I could buy a heap of new zips and lots of new fabric, without feeling guilty for taking money from our very tight budget! I made that money, I can spend it on anything I like! And by buying more supplies I can make more pouches to hopefully sell, and eventually I’ll be able to put some money towards our living expenses. That’s the plan anyway.

Alright, on to the fabric porn.

After spending hours browsing Etsy for fabric, and cringing at the postage costs from other countries, I found this sweet store from Brisbane, Australia. The shipping costs made me very happy and I picked out four lovely prints.

I LOVE this cat fabric! It looks better in real life than it did online, so I was very happy.

And this one is so very pretty. It makes my soul smile.

These others I bought from Spotlight today. The purple ones are from a fat quarter bundle and the others are remnants which they sell at $2 a metre, although there’s rarely anything over 70cm.

This last one is my favourite from Spotlight, it has a slight stretch, which I would usually avoid, but it was too pretty to leave behind, and I think it will work fine for pouches. Now I just have to impatiently wait for my zips to arrive!

Which fabric is your favourite?

Yay for new fabric! I really like the green and orange flowery one. It’s so 60s and cute. Happy sewing Miss Zoe! 🙂

I love them all but I’m partial to the alley cat. I’ve never seen that! So cool.

OOhhhh I love the very last one. The flowers and swirls are something you’d find engraved in an antique chest of drawers or wardrobe – obviously addicted to Antique Roadshow 😉

That cat fabric is cool, and I’m not even a cat person!

I really like stripes, so the stripes and zig zags are pretty my other favs!

I love the cat one. Do you make custom “pouches”? I put pouch in quotes because what I’m really looking for is a bag. Send me a DM on my twitter with your answer?
