You capture – Australia

I must confess to feeling fairly uninspired this week. The theme was America, or if you’re from elsewhere, your own country. Now, I love Australia, but I wouldn’t call myself patriotic, so I wasn’t about to go out and snap images of a flag I don’t agree with. The southern cross has sadly been twisted into an racist White Australia symbol and the Union Jack? Don’t even get me started…

So. The thing I like about Australia most? The flora. I love plants and I love bush walking, or hiking as some may call it. I didn’t get a chance to go to the bush this week though so I had to take photos of what I had on hand. I have lots of woody fruits around the house, they’ve all dropped their seeds and one day when I live in the county I’ll sow the seeds and hope for some beautiful trees! The first one is an Eucalyptus and the other two are Hakeas.

And maybe the greatest thing to come out of Australia, a Macadamia! Yum! The tastiness is firmly hidden inside.

I understand that if you don’t already love plants this is probably a little boring! Not to mention brown… So now a little colour. Although this is a bit of a stretch on the theme, I love that all these fruit and vegies are grown locally, organic, and are delivered to my door!

i love seeing your take on australia! like others said, seeing other countries is what makes this theme interesting. and it all looks exotic and interesting to me, just knowing you took these shots oceans away. 🙂

I guess 90% of the blogs I read are American so I don’t get the same effect! I wish I had of gotten out and taken some shots of the beach and bush but I ran out of time. Oh well.

I love a box of local veggies delivered to my door! Yum. I also love macadamias, but they are definitely not local for me.

What great pictures they are so cool, I don’t think I will ever get tired of a picture with colorful fresh produce.

Thanks for your photos. It was cool to see them. I’ve never been to Australia and it’s fun to see what others like about where they live, even if it is just the vegetation 🙂

I love getting to see other countries than my own for this challenge- living in America, you’re kind of saturated with all things American so seeing other countries is a breath of fresh air 🙂

I never thought I was particularly patriotic or nationalistic until I left Australia. Now I find myself feeling nostalgic for the bush – especially the muted colours of the trees, nuts and grass. Loved your photos and was really interested to see an Australian interpretation of this challenge.
